The KVS Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) recruitment, conducted under Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, uses a two-tier written exam followed by a Typing Test and a Computer Proficiency Test (CPT).
The typing test
The typing test is on computer and requires a net speed of 35 WPM in English or 30 WPM in Hindi (35 WPM = 10,500 key depressions per hour). It runs for 10 minutes and is qualifying in nature โ you must meet the speed, but it isn't added to merit.
The Computer Proficiency Test (CPT)
The CPT is bilingual (English/Hindi) and covers MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS PowerPoint and internet. It carries 100 marks and you must score at least 40% to qualify. This is more demanding than a typical typing-only skill test.
How to prepare
Typing: build to 40+ WPM English (or 35 Hindi) so the 35/30 net target is comfortable.
CPT: learn Word, Excel, Access basics and PowerPoint thoroughly โ 40% across 100 marks is a real bar.
Bilingual readiness: the CPT is in both English and Hindi.
Practise both โ use the tool above for typing and the CPT course for the office applications.
