The Bombay High Court (BHC) recruits Personal Assistants, Stenographers and Clerks through a process that includes a marks-bearing typing skill test. Because typing carries marks, accuracy and extra speed translate directly into a better position on the merit list.

How marks are deducted
1 mark is deducted for every 4 mistakes. Errors are counted on a word-by-word basis. For example, a PA candidate typing 500 words with 10 mistakes loses marks for those errors while still being credited for speed.
The typing area shows the passage at the top and your input below, with no word highlighting, no error highlighting and no auto-scroll. Backspace may be disabled depending on the notification, so practise both ways.
Why High Court typing is harder
High Court passages are in legal language — court orders, judgments, writ petitions — and the speed bar (40–50 WPM) sits above SSC's 35 WPM. The combination of higher speed, legal vocabulary and mark-based accuracy is what makes serious, exam-specific practice essential.
How to prepare
Build well past the minimum — aim for 55+ WPM for PA and 45+ for Steno/Clerk.
Protect accuracy — every 4 mistakes is a full mark gone.
Practise legal passages to absorb the vocabulary and punctuation.
Confirm the font for Marathi/Hindi typing from the official notice.
